WHAT IS “THE PERFECT STORM”?

Aptly named by world-renowned thought-leader, teacher, podcast host and paediatric chiropractor, Dr. Tony Ebel, “The Perfect Storm” is a blanket term used to describe the increasingly long list of childhood conditions that are affecting children of the modern western world.
More often than not, the perfect storm starts with a high-stress pregnancy and/or significant or severe birth intervention. This then leads into a cascade of challenges ranging from colicky or unsettled infants to “raging bull” toddlers or clumsy and uncoordinated kids with stunted development, and eventually one of the increasingly prevalent childhood diagnoses such as autism or ADHD.
As our children grow through these challenges, we’re generally told by the traditional paediatrician or GP that they will “grow out of it”. When in reality the problem may disappear, but only to be replaced shortly thereafter by a new developmentally-appropriate symptom.
For example, the constantly spitting-up and inconsolably crying infant grows into the unmanageable, underslept and tantrum-throwing toddler who then grows into the anxious, socially challenged school kid with learning difficulties or even developmental regressions.
